Please Note: The Safe Travels Program has been suspended for Kauai for now. We will update this message as more information is available.
Hawaii’s Safe Travels program means that US travelers can once again enjoy Kauai’s breathtaking natural beauty and signature hospitality.
The new program, which began on October 15, allows travelers to bypass the mandatory 14-day quarantine by taking a COVID-19 test no more than 72 hours before departure of the final leg of their trip.
All travelers five and older will be required to take a Nucleic Acid Amplification Test (NAAT) from a certified Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA) lab. The state of Hawaii will accept test results ONLY from Trusted Testing and Travel Partners. Travelers will be responsible for the cost of the test.
For further details, including how to register for the Safe Travels program, and to ensure you have the latest updates, please visit Hawaii COVID-19 and register with the State of Hawaii Safe Travels online system.
The state of Hawaii will ONLY accept test results from Trusted Testing and Travel Partners.
All incoming travelers are required to have their temperatures checked and complete a health questionnaire online before they can leave the airport. Should travelers have a temperature of 100.4 degrees F or higher, display COVID-19 symptoms, or provide answers on the STATE TRAVELER HEALTH FORM requiring additional testing, they will be required to complete a secondary screening at the airport performed by trained healthcare staff.
Remember to pack your mask and/or facial coverings in your carry-on luggage. All visitors are required to wear a mask (allowances given for young children and those with health conditions) at all airports and until they are in their room in their confirmed place of lodging.
Beginning October 15, travelers who arrive without proof of a valid negative COVID-19 NAAT from the state of Hawaii’s Trusted Testing and Travel Partners list will be subject to the state’s strict 14-day mandatory self-quarantine.

Please note that secondary screening is only required for Hawaii Island.
