Planning & Permits:
- Hā‘ena State Park: This breathtaking park, including Kē‘ē Beach and access to Hanakāpī‘ai Falls and the Kalalau Trail, now requires advanced reservations. Snag your permits up to 30 days in advance at www.gohaena.com. Parking passes are especially popular, so book early! Consider the Kaua‘i North Shore Shuttle pass (also available on gohaena.com) for guaranteed entry if parking fills up.
- Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge: Witness the stunning scenery at Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge and the Daniel K Inouye Kīlauea Point Lighthouse, now open Tuesdays through Saturdays. Don’t forget to purchase your entry ticket beforehand.
- New Hanalei NWR Lookout: The Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge lookout boasts panoramic views of the Hanalei Valley, Hanalei Bay, and more! This addition completes the trifecta of Kauai’s wildlife refuges.
- Parking Fees at State Parks: Waimea Canyon State Park and Kōke‘e State Park have implemented parking pay stations. The fees are minimal and offer all-day access to both parks.
Be an Ocean-Friendly Visitor:
We at Ali’i Kai Resort are passionate about preserving Kauai’s beauty. Partnering with Kaua‘i Surfrider, we encourage you to explore their Ocean Friendly Visitor Program. This program offers tips and resources to minimize your impact on the island’s precious ecosystems. You can also find a list of Ocean-Friendly Restaurants to support sustainable practices.
Explore Kauai’s Rich History & Culture:
- Wailua Heritage Trail: Immerse yourself in the rich history of Kauai’s east side, also known as the Royal Coconut Coast. This self-guided walking tour, or virtual experience, features informative signage at ten key locations, offering a glimpse into this region’s fascinating past.
Unforgettable Activities for Every Interest:
- Kaua‘i Museum Lei Making Class: Learn the art of crafting a beautiful Lei Hulu (feather lei) every Friday at the Kaua‘i Museum. This workshop explores the history and traditions behind this iconic Hawaiian art form. Reserve your spot at Kaua’i Museum.

Wednesday through Sunday, enjoy a delicious cocktail and specialty pupus (appetizers) while enjoying the stunning scenery. Live music and other local entertainment are also offered throughout the week.
- Tasting Kauai Food Tours: Embark on a culinary adventure with Tasting Kauai’s diverse food tours.
